nsnbc : One person was arrested on drug trafficking charges on the M26 motorway after police observed that he picked up sports bags that were being thrown out of a helicopter in the county of Kent. Later police arrested two who had flown the helicopter from Belgium to the UK. The bust led to raids and the discovery of a cocaine lab in the Netherlands.
Police arrested a 38-year-old British national who had picked up the bags who were dispersed from a helicopter. Police arrested the driver at around 6:00 p.m. after a wild car chase. The helicopter had been flown o Redhill Aerodrome in Surrey from Belgium.
Later on two Dutch nationals aged 26 and 27, were detained after the helicopter that was used to transport the 100 kg of cocaine and heroin was recovered in Surrey. Police reports that the bags contained 40 kg of cocaine and 60 kg of heroin at an estimated value of £10million.
Police reported that the intercept had been carried out in a joint operation involving the National Crime Agency and Scotland Yard.
The bust after the Helicopter Ben Bernanke quantitative easing style dispersal of the merchandise led to further busts in the Netherlands. A raid in the Dutch town of Eindhoven near the Belgian border delivered an extra bonus.
Police discovered a concealed cocaine laboratory behind a mirror in a gym. Following up on that raid, police found large sums of euro and weapons in other premises related to the drug ring.
