13 militants killed in army raids in North Sinai: source

TCP : Some 13 alleged militants were killed in military raids in restive North Sinai during the past 24 hours, Youm7 quoted security sources Wednesday.

The source added that a total of four explosive devices were found in eastern Arish and western Sheikh Zuwayed, and were defused.

In the same context, North Sinai security directorate announced in a statement that military operations have burnt six “hideouts” and closed 11 tunnel openings used by militants for smuggling purposes.

Around 34 at-large convicts were arrested during the operations.

In a Wednesday statement, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said that border forces seized 117 poppy farms, 831 marijuana plant rolls and 50, 000 tablets of Tramadol in the range of second, third field army and in the western military region in North Sinai.

The forces also arrested around 95 undocumented migrants of different nationalities, according to the spokesperson, who noted that some 3,558 vehicles loaded with various goods crossed Karam Abu Salem border to the Gaza strip.
