A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the balloon caught fire, exploded and then plunged from the sky and crashed into fields near Luxor, located 510 kilometers south of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
There were 21 people on the Balloon, which was flying at 300 meters Qurna in Luxor’s West Bank before the incident.
The two survivors including the pilot were taken to a nearby hospital, the official added.
