Allentown Copblock Founder Bullied By Cop With A Long History Of Abuse

At 9:53pm on June 2, 2016, Rick Gonzalez (Allentown Copblock) and Severin Freeman (Lehigh Valley Copblock) were filming a traffic stop in Bethlehem Township. Rick was filming while standing off the the side of a police vehicle when Corporal Leonard Shepulski Jr. (Badge Number 616) exited the vehicle & approached Rick claiming he didn’t want him filming over his right shoulder (Rick is clearly nowhere near the officer). This prompts him to shove Rick backwards. Severin stepped in asking for his badge number and the officer began showing his true colors by threatening to arrest Rick and daring us to report him.

This behavior is typical of police videos today.  In fact, its almost expected, sadly. The old wive’s tale of the “good cop” is dead. Modern technology has shown the world who and what these bullies are in their day to day lives.

This case though, was different. We soon uncovered a LONG history of violence with Corporal Shepulski. The local headline read “Officer Taken Off Job, For Now” and it was a precursor to his being rehired, obviously. What did he do, you ask? Well, the article about this upstanding law enforcement officer began:

Bethlehem Township Police Cpl. Leonard Shepulski Jr., charged earlier this week with threatening to kill his wife if she took their children near a male friend, was suspended without pay Wednesday, the second time in his 12-year career he has faced that disciplinary action. Township Manager Jon Hammer said Shepulski was told by phone Wednesday night and certified mail has been sent notifying him that he’s suspended indefinitely without pay until his legal problems are resolved.

According to Colonial Regional police, Shepulski threatened his wife, June, several times Monday in their Lower Nazareth Township home. He was arraigned before District Justice Michael Koury Jr. of Wilson Monday on charges of making terroristic threats, harassment and stalking, and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Shepulski likely faces more charges today in connection with an alleged assault Sunday at the Nazareth home of his wife’s male friend, who has not been identified, borough Police Chief Bruce Ruch said. Shepulski allegedly barged into the man’s home and assaulted him, according to a temporary protection-from-abuse request made by Shepulski’s wife.

Hammer said Shepulski was told Wednesday that he must turn in his badge, gun and other department-issued items.

You read that correct. This was the second time in badge number 616’s career that he had been suspend and made the paper. The first instance was when Mr. Shepulski led police on a high speed chase through the town. He even killed his headlights to avoid being caught. Sadly much of the records from that case are sealed due to his entering a drug and alcohol rehab program.

Official records are quoted as saying:

He was allowed to rejoin the police department after he entered the accelerated rehabilitative disposition program to have reckless endangerment charges erased from his record.

The outcome of his restraining order is a matter of public record and they show that, yes indeed, the judge granted the order permanently and issued a full order of protection against the officer. The order even barred him from his own home.

How does someone like this have a badge? The biggest crime against the people of this country are these known bullies being allowed to keep their badges after they abuse them. Please explain how this guy was even able to push around Rick from Allentown Copblock. The town is aware of his actions and so is the police chief. Who bares responsibility when he really hurts someone else?

I have an appointment tomorrow (Thursday 6/9/16) with Captain Gottschall to officially report this officers actions. I ask you all that have an issue with this to also speak up.

Feel free to contact the department and voice your concerns about this. They have already blocked me and several others from posting on their Facebook page.

If your right to access officials is being blocked via their Facebook you can call the department administration at (610) 814-6410
