Anonymous has made good on their threat to release names of Klu Klux Klan members. The group of hacktivists said they would reveal the identities of 1,000 members of the KKK after gaining data from a compromised Twitter account.

Four listings on Pastebin were published. These lists includes 57 phone numbers and 23 email addresses.

According to Amped Attacks: “I worked for nine days to gather and verify all the information that was gathered before its release. I got the information from several KKK websites when I [hacked] them and was able to dump their database. I went through many emails that was signed up with these sites and a few of the emails that sparked my interest was the ones of the politicians in question there would be no reason for them to be signed up on any KKK website unless they supported it or was involved in it.”

On October 28th, Anonymous published an open letter to members of the KKK, stating that: “We know who you are. We know the dangerous extent to which you will go to cover your asses. Originally, we did not attack you for your beliefs as we fight for freedom of speech. We attacked you due to your threats to use lethal force in the Ferguson protests. We took this grudge between us rather seriously. You continue to threaten anons and others. We never said we would only strike once.”

The group added in their statement: “You are terrorists that hide your identities beneath sheets and infiltrate society on every level. The privacy of the Ku Klux Klan no longer exists in cyberspace. You’ve had blood on your hands for nearly 200 years.”

In the coming days, Anonymous promised to reveal the KKK affiliation of “some law enforcement” and “feds”.

Four US senators made the list , including:

• Thomas Tillis, North Carolina
• John Cornyn, Texas
• John Hardy Isakson, Georgia
• Dan Coats, Indiana

Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn from Florida was named in the list of KKK members. As of the writing of this article, Guinn’s camp has denied this claim.

Jim Gray, mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, was on the list, but vehemently denies the allegation as “false, insulting and ridiculous”.

Gray told the press : “I have never had any relationship of any kind with the KKK. I am opposed to everything it stands for. I have no idea where this information came from, but wherever it came from, it is wrong.”

Knoxville, Tennessee Mayor Madeline Rogero, who was named on the list, said the accusations are “defamatory … and they should be retracted immediately.”

Rogero added: “It is irresponsible and slanderous. Although, on a positive note, I do appreciate that they are using a picture of me from 12 years ago. Very flattering!”

In Virginia, Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim also denied he is affiliated with the KKK. Fraim said: “It’s a complete hoax. It’s false. And I, you know, am offended by any suggestion that I ever had anything to do with the KKK.”

Based on audio recordings, Anonymous implicated Fraim and his wife as being part of the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK.

This group claims to be a patriotic white Christian organization purposed with “exalting the Caucasian race and teaching the doctrine of White Supremacy.”
