Are There Evidence-based Facts Regarding Political Parties Race Relations?

Op-Ed by Catherine J. Frompovich

Currently, there is much angst in the United States revolving around racism and race relations which, unfortunately, is not very surprising.  Why do I say that?  One primary reason is too much misinformation about race relations and major political parties historical aspects and involvement, which I think needs clarification in hopes of bringing some common sense and enlightenment to the topic.

All may not be as what is propagandized and, therefore, believed to be so.  Many activists probably are acting based upon a misunderstanding and/or false narratives impacting both the Democrat and Republican political parties.  Both parties seem to fit into two separate camps of race-thinking going back to pre-Civil War days.

However, media, talking heads and pundits usually are prone, in the current political theater, to cast their lots on race relations with what’s referred to as the “progressives,” “liberals,” “far left,” or whatever counter-conservative meme they probably are instructed to mainstream, I suggest.

One area I find totally lacking in clarity (as research will demonstrate in this article) is how blacks probably perceive the Democrat Party to be “their” party despite prominent Democratic politicians historically being downright racists.  That aspect I find most unappealing insofar as I’m of the belief if you don’t know history, you probably will not recognize when you are reviving—and reliving—it “one more time.”

Below is a chart of the racial and ethnic diversity in the U.S. Congress, which indicates race relations have come a long way, which everyone ought to understand as real progress.  After all, didn’t the U.S. voter elect the first biracial male president in 2008 and again in 2012 who, surprisingly chose to be called a “black man” rather than the ethnic term “mulatto”[1], thereby disenfranchising his Caucasian mother’s ethnicity.  Was that enough to set off a huge ‘hiccup’ in race relations?  Some think it was, but another aspect may be involved.

Certain vested social-change-interest-folks and their funding play a clandestine role to foment racial problems—even employ “crisis actors” [2]-[3] (see the Boston demonstration demanding George Soros pay them their money[4]) something most people who think they are disenfranchised either don’t know or want to know that they are being manipulated and/or controlled.

There are many aspects of life where blacks have been abused, as have the Irish, Jews and other ethnicities.  There’s something about human nature that makes everyone think he/she is “better” than their neighbor when, in reality, we all are the same, just different packaging: skin color.

We all have to breathe, eat and perform certain functions to carry on with life, so we all should realize that we have much more in common and have enough empathy to understand everyone needs their space.

However, over the course of time, many historical figures have been racists, yet that aspect of their personalities always is pushed under the carpet and stomped upon so others won’t know that about them, in my opinion.  If they knew, it could change their minds to think and act differently and, hopefully, with better understanding and follow through.

The Democrat Party had some prominent politicians who, undoubtedly, were more-than closet racists which, I think, black folk don’t know, but should, as that lack of knowledge may be the point of reference to make comprehensive choices.

Personally, in researching for this article, I thought the following may shed some much-needed light on just how far we really have come in race relations; as such remarks no longer are acceptable.

“The white men were roused by a mere instinct of self-preservation—until at least there had sprung into existence a great Ku Klux Klan, a veritable empire of the South, to protect the Southern country.”  … President Woodrow Wilson[5] (early 1900s)

“I think one man is just as good as another so long as he’s not a n*gger or a Chinaman.”

“Uncle Will says that the Lord made a White man from dust, a n*gger from mud, then He threw up what was left and it came down a Chinaman.”

“He does hate Chinese and Japs.  So do I. It is race prejudice, I guess.  But I am strongly of the opinion Negroes ought to be in Africa, Yellow men in Asia and White men in Europe and America.” [6] … President Harry Truman (mid 1940s)

“I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”[7] President Lyndon Johnson (1960s)

“A few years ago, [Barack Obama] would have been getting us coffee.” … President Bill Clinton (1990s)

“…a ‘light-skinned’ African American [Obama] ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” U.S. Senator Harry Reid

“You got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.  I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”Joe Biden describing Barack Obama

“White folks was in caves while we was building empires… We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.” … Rev. Al Sharpton in a 1994 speech at Kean College, NJ[8]

“There is nothing more painful to me … than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.” [9]Jessie Jackson (1996)

“The [black youths] are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘super-predators,’[10] … No conscience, no empathy, we can talk about why they ended up that way, but first we have to bring them to heel.”Hillary Clinton (1996)

Hillary Clinton admired Margaret Sanger, a birth control activist, racist and eugenicist[11]  who founded Planned Parenthood Federation of America and said, “Colored people are like human weeds and need to be exterminated.”

“I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision.” [12] Hillary Clinton

You f*cking Jew bastard.”  … Hillary Clinton to political operative Paul Fray [13]

A review of the Democrat Party’s politicians’ racism

  1. The Democratic Party created the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) after the Confederacy’s defeat in the Civil War. [They acted as the military arm of the Democrat Party.[15]]
  2. An estimated 3,446 black Republicans and 1,297 white Republicans were lynched by the KKK between 1882 and 1968.
  3. Jim Crow segregation laws in the South were created by Democrats looking to overturn Republican civil rights laws.
  4. Democrats supported the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision that said “a Negro whose ancestors were imported into (the U.S.), and sold as slaves,” whether enslaved or free, could not be an American citizen. The decision was 7-2 with ALL 7 Democrat judges voting in favor and the Republican and Whig dissenting.
  5. Immediately after taking office in 1913, President Woodrow Wilson (D) fired most blacks who worked in the Federal government and re-segregated the Treasury Department, Mail Service and the Navy. Wilson said, “Segregation is not humiliating but a benefit” and “distinctly to the advantage of the colored people themselves.”
  6. Governor George Wallace (D-AL) stood in front of the Alabama schoolhouse in 1963, fighting to keep segregation permanent.
  7. Democrat public safety commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor, in Birmingham, AL, unleashed attack dogs and turned fire hoses on civil rights demonstrators.
  8. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement with one simple creed: Slavery is a Violation of the Rights of Man.

The Republican Party, “Party of Freedom and Progress”

  1. Frederick Douglas, the famous African American abolitionist, called the Republicans the “Party of Freedom and Progress” and said, “I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.”
  2. The first Republican President was Abraham Lincoln, the author of the Emancipation Proclamation. Freeing the slaves was much to the Democrats horror.
  3. Republicans in Congress authored the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
  4. Congressional Republicans unanimously backed the 13th Amendment banning slavery while 63% of Democrat Senators and 78% of Democrat House members voted against it.
  5. 94% of Republican Senators and 96% of Republican House members voted in favor of the 14th Amendment guaranteeing due process of law to blacks and all Americans. All congressional Democrats voted against it.
  6. Nearly all Congressional Republicans voted in favor of passing the 15th Amendment guaranteeing blacks the right to vote. Every single Democrat voted no.
  7. President Dwight D. Eisenhower (R) championed the Civil Rights Act of 1957, which was unanimously supported by Republicans. Democrats in the Senate filibustered against it.  The 15th Amendment says in part, “Section 1.  The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”

Prominent U.S. Democrat Politician Who Was a Racist and KKK Member

Former K K Klansman U.S. Senator Robert Byrd (D, WVA[16], who was Hillary Clinton’s Senate mentor[17], is on record saying, “Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

The above notwithstanding, racial diversity, in reality, is appreciated as the following black athletes’ earnings demonstrate.  It’s not because they are black they made so much money; it’s because they can do what they do better than the rest of us.  Therefore, they earn respect and compensation accordingly.

  • Floyd Mayweather $105 million
  • LeBron James $72.3 million
  • Kobe Bryant $61.5 million
  • Tiger Woods $61.2 million
  • Derrick Rose $36.6 million
  • Lewis Hamilton $32 million
  • Kevin Durant $31.9 million
  • Dwayne Wade $29.9 million
  • Carmelo Anthony $29.4 million
  • Amar’e Stoudemire $26.7 million

If United States white folks were as racist as some like to think, they never would have voted for a “black man” as president—two times!  Especially since blacks, according to U.S. Census Reports, represented only 12.6% of the population in 2010, while whites were 72.4% of the population!

In retrospect, I think we have made great strides in race relations; just consider how many of our neighbors are ethnically different than ourselves, and still we live in community and harmony.  Only when fascist fomenters enter the picture along with their control methods, or we are content to be led by radicals, do things get out of hand while the press fawns all over them to provide media coverage, which only augments the control freaks fascist agenda of fear, confusion and control.

Please, let’s not allow programmed racism to divide us.
