‘Arresting terrorists proves Iran might’

“This success by [Iran’s] Intelligence Ministry showed that any measure against national security of the Islamic establishment will be futile,” Mohammad Esmaeili told IRNA on Monday.

Enemies should be cautious that their moves to undermine the Islamic establishment’s security and peace will lead to failure and that they should pay for their conspiracies, he added.

The lawmaker noted that enemies have been repeatedly defeated after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

“The enemies have spared no efforts to overthrow the Islamic establishment over the past 33 years and despite receiving crushing responses, they have always continued their desperate efforts,” Esmaeili pointed out.

On June 14, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced the capture of the main elements behind the assassination of two Iranian nuclear scientists — Majid Shahriari and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, and Reza Qashqaei (the driver of one of the nuclear scientists).

Iranian nuclear scientist Ahmadi Roshan was assassinated in January 2012 after an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnet bomb to his car in Tehran.

On November 29, 2010, Professor Shahriari and Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi were targeted by terrorist attacks; Shahriari was killed immediately and Dr. Abbasi, the current head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, sustained injuries.
