BlackBerry has laid off dozens of workers in another wave of sackings, according to reports from Canadian tech blog Cantech Letter.

The blog is reporting that sources close to the matter are describing the company’s consumer sales force as “gone” and enterprise as “gutted”.

The reports are being echoed by The Wall Street Journal, which is saying that the sales employees had been laid off as part of an ongoing restructuring.

These restructures have included the departure of Richard Piasentin, BlackBerry’s vice president of sales in the US in June, and 250 workers in an Ontario testing facility in July. In all, 5000 jobs were earmarked to be cut during the company’s last financial year.

In mid-August, BlackBerry formed a special committee to explore “strategic alternatives” for itself, which included looking for a potential buyer for the once-dominant handset maker.
