Boy hit by island bus critical

A seven-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a minibus on a tiny island off Queensland’s far north coast.

The youngster was knocked down on Thursday evening as he tried to cross Main Road, on Murray Island, part of the Torres Strait archipelago.

He was flown to Townsville Base Hospital with critical head and internal injuries.

Queensland Police are investigating the incident.
