Breaching embassies’ privacy condemned, Saudis’ reaction indecent

Tehran, Jan 8, IRNA — Head of Cultural Council of President’s Office on Friday condemned breaching of privacy of Saudi Embassy in Tehran and that country’s consular office in Mashad, while branding as highly indecent that country’s severing ties and other un-thoughtful acts.

Speaking with IRNA, Seyyed Reza Akrami said that the string of events in recent days which began with unwise execution of Sheikh Nimr, breaching the privacy and trespassing the premises of two Saudi diplomatic offices in Iran, and that country’s severing of ties with Iran were all condemned, adding that the Saudis should not also ignore their neglected high responsibility in Mina in this year’s Hajj bloody pilgrimage disaster.

‘The Saudis’ acts are totally unforgivable, but entering the premises of the embassies without permission, or breaching their privacy and damaging their properties, too, is both inacceptable and condemned and the Iranian officials are opposed to such acts,’ he said.

Akrami said that the people who were opposed to Saudi officials’ execution of Sheikh Nimr al-Baqer al-Nimr could have reflected their objection legally by staging protest rallies, or writing articles against it, but they were by no means allowed to trespass the premises of a foreign embassy, or to damage thier belongings, which was done by a small crowd and annoyed the people inside and outside the country.

Akrami also reminded the Saudi officials that Iran had never resorted to such acts when the Saudis behaved most indecently, because Tehran pursues the policy of interacting and dialogue and has never been after responding to wrong acts likewise.

He also reminded the reaction of those few countries that have severed diplomatic ties that their hasty move will lead to their own loss.

The Saudis’ execution of Sheikh Nimr has raised a wave of protests in Iran and around the globe, in two of which in Tehran and Mashad a bunch of wayward hooligans breached the privacy of two Saudi diplomatic offices.
