Bushfires in Central Queensland

 

7.30pm: Firefighters are attending several large bushfires across Central Queensland

CENTRAL
ADVICE: Burua – large bushfire
Ten Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews are attending to a large bushfire burning in the vicinity of Koowim Drive, Haddock Drive and Glen Lyon Road and Mt Rolo Road at Burua, west of Gladstone.

This fire broke out just before 11am. This fire is currently moving in a south easterly direction towards Amadale Heights. There is no immediate threat to property however residents are urged to remain vigilant. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should call triple zero (000) immediately.

Thangool
Approximately twenty-five firefighters are working to contain a bushfire burning off Crowsdale Camboon Road, Thangool. T

his fire started around 10.30am. Firefighters are currently conducting backburning operations in an attempt to contain the blaze. There is understood to be no immediate threat to property.

Clairview
Firefighters remain on scene at a bushfire burning off the Bruce Highway, Clairview. This fire broke out around 1pm. There is understood to be no immediate threat to property.

A fire weather warning has been issued for a large section of the state with hot, gusty winds, low humidity and temperatures in the mid-thirties combining to create a severe fire danger.

The warning was issued for people in the Maranoa and Warrego, Central West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders district, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Capricornia, western parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and the Herbert and Lower Burdekin districts.
