During a press conference upon arrival in the Russian capital on Friday, Xi said Beijing would prioritize China-Russia ties in its foreign policy.
The Chinese president also stated that Beijing and Moscow had similar positions on key international and regional issues and must work to protect justice and equality, peace and stability, and prosperity in the world.
Xi said China placed ‘great importance’ on its relations with its ‘friendly neighbor’ Russia.
Meanwhile, President Putin called for expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides signed an agreement on oil supplies and discussed investment deals.
Putin expressed hope that the two countries would boost the value of bilateral trade to $150 billion a year from the current $88 billion.
