Docs show plot against Venezuela

According to documents obtained by the Spanish-language RT Actualidad news network, the sabotage plans were the product of a conference between US-based FTI Consulting advisory firm and two right-wing Colombian groups linked to former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe.

The tree groups introduced a scheme called “The Venezuelan Strategic Plan” in which they detail the ways in which they can disrupt Venezuela’s society prior to regional polls slated for December.

“The suggested aims in the plan are especially geared towards the municipal elections on December 8,” the document writes.

It points to the strategies to be employed including “creating crisis on the streets, facilitating the intervention of North America and NATO forces with the Colombian army.”

It specifically cites Venezuela’s opposition leader Henrique Capriles, and calls for support of his political movement.

Maduro has repeatedly blamed outside attempts for creating disasters and Venezuela’s economic doldrums, and stated that certain foreign countries seek to cripple the country through domestic sabotage.

In October, the Venezuelan president expelled three US diplomats from the country over their collaboration with the opposition to organize large-scale power outages across Venezuela.

“We detected a group of US embassy officials dedicated to meeting the far right, and to financing and encouraging acts of sabotage against the electrical system and Venezuela’s economy,” Maduro said in a televised speech.
