Egyptian film ‘Nawara’ opens Luxor International Film Festival

TCP : The Luxor International Film Festival (LIFF) kicked off Thursday with a screening of “Nawara,” a film by Egyptian director Hala Khalil, Youm7 reported.

5th Luxor International Film Festival_EgyptThe festival is an annual event organized in Egypt’s top touristic destination of Luxor. The festival’s 5th edition will take place March 17 – 23. It consists mainly of four competitions: Long Narratives, Long Documentaries, Short Films (Narratives and Documentaries) and The International Competition of Freedom Films.

More than 40 films from 24 African countries are entered in this year’s edition, which, according to head of the festival Egyptian director Azza al Husseiny, is dedicated to late Egyptian actor Omar Sharif, Ivorian director Henri Duparc and Moroccan critic Mustafa Al-Mesnawy.

Husseiny announced that a book entitled “Omar Sharif in the eyes of the world” will be released during the festival days as a tribute to the memory of the late and great Egyptian actor, international star Omar Sharif, according to the festival’s website.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the very first Ivorian film, Ivory Coast will be celebrated as the festival’s guest of honor.
