Engravings by Ernst von Dombrowski

Ernst von Dombrowski (1896 – 1985) was an Austrian artist and author who joined with the National Socialists in 1932, becoming very politically active. He was a very influential voice, advocating for a restructuring of arts in the Reich, proposing country communes for the education of NS artists. From 1938-1945, he was appointed professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich, though he served several years on the Eastern front during that time. He was imprisoned and “de-Nazified” after the war, then was able to revive his artists career in Bavaria.
