European stock markets steady at open



EUROPE’S main stock markets are stable at the start of trading a day after the Frankfurt index spiked to a record high.


London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index of top companies had inched up 0.02 per cent to 6,558.67 points shortly after Wednesday’s open.

Frankfurt’s DAX 30 dipped 0.06 per cent to 8,176.88 points and in Paris the CAC 40 won 0.06 per cent to 3,923.92.

On Tuesday, the DAX hit an all-time high of 8,197.72 points, with the German market lifted by impressive factory orders data according to traders.
