Example of Politicians saying one thing, leaving government to join the MIC and then change their minds

Now this is a bit of an old video but it shows perfectly how politicians say one thing, then leave government to go and work for lobbyists or in this case the Military Industrial Complex ( MIC ), and then once back in government change their mind.

This relates to Dick Cheney and the first Iraq War where George H Bush didn’t push his troops into Baghdad and depose of Saddam Hussein. I actually have a transcript of a meeting  the US ambassador to Baghdad April Glaspie and Saddam Hussein and his Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz in 1990 in which the US seems to give a “blind eye” to any action that Saddam Hussein may take against Kuwait for their practice of slant drilling. This is where one country drills diagonally under another. The US was giving implicit consent for Iraq to Kuwait.

I was in the American Embassy in Kuwait during the late 60′s. The instruction we had during this period was that we should express no opinion on this issue and that the issue is not associated with America. James Baker has directed our official spokesmen to emphasize this instruction. We hope you can solve this problem using any suitable methods via Klibi or via President Mubarak. All that we hope is that these issues are solved quickly. With regard to all of this, can I ask you to see how the issue appears to us?

Read it all here.

Listen to all the reasons he gives why it wouldn’t have been a good idea.

Ignore the Arab country one as the US Army was committing a war crime and it wasn’t under a grand UN coalition that included many Muslim countries.

He basically states that:

The main issue would be that by removing the Ba’ath party from power without replacing it would lead to chaos and Iraq would break away into little pieces with surrounding countries taking their chunk.

Look at Iraq now, the Shi’ite government is more in step with the Iranians, the Kurds have made their own little Kurdistan to the north of Iraq and now within Syria with the hope they can snap off a part of Turkey that they have been fighting for ages, and create their own country.

The Sunni’s have become the main part of the Iraq/Syrian rebels e.g the Free Syrian Army (which made a peace deal with ISIS/ISIL), Halliburton(ISIL) is full of them, al-Nusra Front and of course al-Qaeda enters the region. Israel would become more threatened by all these militants and the big one that failed after the recent war was that there was no plan for what to do afterwards.

There is more he says in the older video, but just compare what he says to what is happening now in that region. It seems the 150 or so US soldiers lives which were lost in that campaign have now become insignificant to Dick when millions of dollars are involved.

Then Dick Cheney leaves government when Bill Clinton is awarded the Presidency for all his good work with the CIA at Mena airport and goes to work with Halliburton, a major oil company, that he left during the 2000 election with a $36,000,0000 ($36 million) golden parachute.

Then in the run-up to the Iraq war, Halliburton was awarded a $7 billion contract for which only Halliburton was allowed to bid for. This made them the chief MIC company in Iraq milking the US tax payer by charging them for the most insane items.

I think one of the most crazy items was a video I saw from an Iraq veteran who spoke about whenever he wanted to use the “Internet Tent” (I guess they had a major tent where soldiers could write emails home to their families and so on). I remember him saying that the first time he went there he just walked up to an empty computer and went to turn it on only to be met by a Halliburton staff member who told him off.

Apparently he was supposed to sign in and the staff member would assign a computer to him and turn it on for him. For this “job” Halliburton would charge the US Army/Government some stupid amount of money.

A whistle-blower, Bunnatine Greenhouse, made numerous claims about Halliburton’s actions out in Iraq. In one she claimed military auditors had caught Halliburton overcharging the Pentagon for fuel deliveries into Iraq. She also complained that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld‘s office took control of every aspect of Halliburton’s $7 billion Iraqi oil/infrastructure contract.

Halliburton and it’s offshoots were alleged to have committed many “crimes” during the 2003- war in Iraq, one of them being awarded a contract to fight oil well fires. It was a “no-bid” contract which was awarded to Dick Cheney due to him being the vice president at the time.

How much money Dick “shoot em in the back” Cheney got from all his contracts and connections due to the second Iraq war I have no idea but this video shows a nice contrast to someone with nothing to gain whilst in government, getting into a position to gain a lot and then once back in government doing just that.

Watch the video from Secular Talk on YouTube.com.

We all know Dick Cheney is pure evil but making money from shoddy work such as electrocuting soldiers in the showers due their high standard of quality says it all.

Apparently Halliburton offshoot KBR made $39.5 billion in Iraq-related contracts over the past decade, and the “war”, or the fears Cheney offered in his earlier interview have come true.

However I doubt he loses a wink of sleep at night now his pockets are filled to the brim.
