Former envoy stresses importance of JCPOA supervision committee

Speaking to a reporter on the anniversary of nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), former Iranian ambassador Alireza Sheikh Attar stressed on the significance of JCPOA supervision, saying that Islamic Republic of Iran should appear stronger in the post-JCPOA period.

Sheikh Attar also referred to Iran’s relations with the West in post-JCPOA era and said Iran’s foreign policy problems are rooted in the West.

Most countries are trying to expand their relations with the West, but we must be vigilant not to go far in making relationship with the West otherwise the foundations of creating the Islamic Republic of Iran would be forgotten.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to Saudi Arabia hostility with Iran, saying given Saudis’ repeated failure in the region, they are now more than ever concerned with the great successes of Iran, whom they see as their  major rival, and try to blow the country.

Tehran and the six countries reached conclusion over the text of the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015. The accord took effect in January and was supposed to terminate the nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation has been hampered mainly due to US policies.
