Four Easy and Effective Ways to CopBlock

If you want to increase your CopBlocking footprint, or don’t always have the time to go out searching for police to film, here are 4 easy and effective ways to CopBlock when on the go.

You don’t need a camera to participate in any of these activities but I would NEVER recommend CopBlocking without a camera. Even if your objective is to participate in outreach and not to film the police, you should carry camera. People have been intimidated or arrested for passing out leafletswriting with chalkholding poster boards and posting on social media. Be prepared, bring a camera

        • CHALK: Grabbing a couple sticks of chalk and adding them to your daily essential, is a light, effective and cheap way to leave colorful messages everywhere you go. Its interactive and fun. Due to the fact that chalk is water-soluble and causes no damage you have almost free range to quickly scrawl a phrase or create intense chalk art. Often times people are curious enough to ask you what you are doing? Or why you are doing it? This will open up the door for a conversation about how “Badges Don’t Grant Extra Rights” Your chalk masterpiece will display your message all of the way up until someone cleans it up. Chalk is also inflammatory. When opinions clash, dialogue follows. Start a conversation in your community about police misconduct with chalk today.

         

        • POSTER BOARD: A poster board is a great way to effortlessly relay messages everywhere you go. After you have written your custom message You can place it in one of the windows serving as billboard to all who read it. If you want to get real serious, print a warning message on the other side. This way if you come across a speed trap, or police roadblock. You can position yourself to provide advance warning to unsuspecting motorists. Your sign is now twice as effective.

         

        • HANDOUTS: Having a few business cards, informational pamphlets or relevant literature will benefit you majorly as an activist. Not only BlackCBflyersBlackCBflyerswill having them provide information about what you are doing, it also serves as reference material for individual police encounters. Hopefully it will inspire others to begin CopBlocking by connecting them to others who are also filming the police.
        • SOCIAL MEDIA: Spreading the message that “Badges Don’t Grant Extra Rights” is even easier thanks to the internet and social media. Social media activism is just as important as being in the streets with a camera.
