Gee, wouldn’t it be great to have a sane president again?

A New Year message from our Muslim correspondent

Today in the United States, we have government shut down, no Secretary of Defense, no White House Chief of Staff, no Attorney General, and no clear authority at the Department of Justice.

Sanctions on Russia have been practically lifted and our 2,300 troops in Syria found out they will be withdrawn ASAP through social media rather their from their field commanders.

Half of the top jobs in Trump’s State Department are still empty and the United States does not have ambassadors in Ankara, Riyadh, Islamabad, Cairo, Mexico City, Canberra, and Amman. No ambassador in South Africa or Singapore either.

As a result, those US allies feel under-appreciated.

The president made it a habit of abusing friends while appeasing America’s adversaries. He insulted Germany and other NATO members by accusing them of cheating on their dues, denounced the EU as a plot against the United States, and called Canada’s Prime Minister “dishonest.”

President Trump conducts foreign policy with foreign leaders while ignoring the advice of his cabinet and closest advisers.

The President ordered the government shut down because he did not get funding for his long-promised wall along the US-Mexico border.

This has affected hundreds of thousands of federal employees and contractors. Shutting down the government at Christmas is callous enough but doing so in order to build a “very beautiful” (his term not mine) wall  at the cost of $25 billion is insane.

Gee, wouldn’t it be great to have a sane President again?
