Glad I’m Not a Christian

By Ron McVan

I’m glad I’m not a Christian, who view man’s life a sin.
I’m glad I’m not a Christian, who betray their gods and kin!
I’m glad I don’t think truth a lie,
Pray and beg on my knees, till my days are nigh.
And Nature and women? Should I view them as foul,
And reject the reality I am living now?

There are things that a Christian, would be wise to heed,
That man can live noble, by truth and by deed.
That man with his dreams, to greatness should aspire,
Quenched through the will, of his own inner fire!

Men are not born, to be humble and meek,
To shy from battle or turn their cheek.
Men should be valiant, living life to the hilt,
Not crippled with dogmas, full of shame, fear and guilt!

Yes, I’m glad I’m not a Christian, I’m a Heathen and free,
And no man-made religion can put shackles on me!
No alien cult, can lead me astray,
Nor threaten with bibles, and judgment day!
My ancestors stir within me, my gods you may know,
From Valhalla, they are calling… where the bold spirits go!
