The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (HOGRC), chaired by Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz, has admitted that their investigation into allegations that Planned Parenthood misappropriated federal funds to pay for abortions has come up empty handed.

Chaffetz admitted at a recent hearing of the HOGRC: “Did I look at the finances and have a hearing specifically as to the revenue portion and how they spend? Yes. Was there any wrongdoing? I didn’t find any.”

In the end, after 5 hours of questioning Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, as well as millions of dollars in taxpayer money wasted, Chaffetz said: “Did we find any wrongdoing? The answer was no.”

Yet, regardless of the evidence before him, Chaffetz would like to continue using taxpayer funding to dig into Planned Parenthood’s activities. Chaffetz said: “I think there will continue to be investigations.”

And despite the fact that there is no evidence proving the allegations made about Planned Parenthood, Republicans are still pushing a bill that “would end Planned Parenthood’s federal money for a year and transfer it to community health centers.”

During the hearings, Chafetz was caught using a graph made by Americans United For Life (AUFL), an anti-abortion organization that was responsible for the Hyde Amendment, and trying pass it off as statistical data taken from Planned Parenthood’s own documents.

The Hyde Amendment “prohibits the expenditure for any abortion of funds authorized or appropriated by federal law or funds in any trust fund to which funds are authorized or appropriated by federal law.”

Acceptations are “(1) the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest; or (2) the woman suffers from a physical disorder, injury, or illness, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself, that would place her in danger of death unless an abortion is performed, as certified by a physician.”

David Daleiden, the man behind the highly – edited videos produced by the Center For Medical Progress (CMP) accusing Planned Parenthood of selling aborted fetal tissue is being asked to appear before the HOGRC by Democrats on the committee.

Daleiden is being accused of participating in “a host of potentially illegal activities, including filing false documents with government agencies, falsely impersonating a legitimate business concern, soliciting charitable contributions under false pretenses, and secretly recording Planned Parenthood officials without their consent.”

A list of 21 questions for Daleiden have been released, detailing the content of the videos, how they were edited to be misleading , and the right – wing media blitz that led to calls for Planned Parenthood to be defunded.

Congressman Elijah Cummings wrote: “Mr. Daleiden and his group engaged in a host of potentially illegal activities, including filing false documents with government agencies, falsely impersonating a legitimate business concern, soliciting charitable contributions under false pretenses, and secretly recording Planned Parenthood officials without their consent.”

Chaffetz is refusing to call Daleiden to the committee for questioning; stating that he must review the videos filmed by the CMP.

Daleiden has confirmed that Chaffetz has the footage, including unedited videos: “Yes, all the footage, including from the National Abortion Federation, bathroom breaks and all, is going to the House (Oversight) Committee.”
