FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Greek pensioners have protested years of austerity in the country by distributing food in the capital, Athens.
The pensioners gathered near the Finance Ministry in the capital on Wednesday, handing out bowls of bean soup in a symbolic move to protest against years of austerity.
“As you see, the financial situation is getting worse and worse every day. I don’t know what else will happen, but certainly things are not good,” said Anastasia Kotsira, a 68-year-old pensioner.
The protesters also rallied to show their disagreement about possible new reforms which can lead to the rising of the retirement age and the freezing of pensions.
The demonstrators also welcomed the possibility of snap general elections in the country. They believe that the government of Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has made the public suffer too much austerity.
“The Prime Minister hears only what he wants to hear. The workers, pensioners and unemployed will send him their own message through protests, and tomorrow through elections, because elections will come soon,” Angelos Koursaris, 63-year-old pensioner, said.
Greece has been relying on international bailout loans since 2010. It has received 240 billion euros (330 billion dollars) in international loans so far. In exchange, Athens has implemented harsh austerity measures.
The government’s austerity programs have forced people to endure multiple tax increases, along with cuts in pensions and salaries.
Greek citizens have been staging protests over the prospect of entering a sixth year of austerity measures.
