The rise of’e-commerce has increased demand for timely and efficient shipping methods at a time when our nations infrastructure is more crowded than ever.

Unfortunately, an outdated 1982 regulation is hindering the development of new, more efficient ways to meet the growing demands of Americas trucking industry. The regulation limits some tractor trailers to 28 feet. This limits the amount of cargo these trucks can carry, necessitating more trucks on the road, creating more congestion, and placing more strain on our nations already over-used highways.

Congress can help alleviate this problem by simply allowing the use of Twin-33s, which would increase tractor trailer space to 33 feet.

Currently, some trucks can use Twin 28s, and while that is an improvement, it is not nearly enough to address the needs of the modern economy.

Allowing Twin-33s on our nations roads would safely upgrade our existing transportation infrastructure without any additional cost to taxpayers. It would improve the working conditions of truck drivers (by allowing them to haul more cargo in one trip) and improve the efficiency of’e-commerce.
