How did George Orwell See the Future when Writing 1984? by Greg Giles

Many today our aware of the term ‘Orwellian’ as a metaphor used to describe the ever increasing global fascist police state. What many  may not clearly understand is where the term Orwellian came from and how it came to be. In 1949 George Orwell’s masterpiece 1984 was published, a story of a futuristic nightmare of a world destroyed by perpetual war, government surveillance and public mind control, an oppressed society ruled by a small group of elitists that have banned any individualism and independent thought.

Today we are living George Orwell’s vision of this nightmare. But how is it that Orwell was able to so accurately describe a world 50 years into the future? How did he foresee a future where our rights would be systematically stripped from us, how our local police would be transformed into jack-booted thugs, how technology would be developed that would enable complete surveillance of our every move, even our every thought, and how every facet of our lives would be controlled by ‘big brother’, one of several terms born through the depressing pages of 1984. How did Orwell know all this?

There are those who see Orwell as a modern-age Nostradamus, as technologies depicted in 1984 were not yet invented and the US at that time could hardly be compared to a police state as it is appropriately described today. I myself wondered how Orwell could have possibly known what we would be experiencing. I thought about it at length, and as I could not come up with an answer, I did some research. The answer to this mystery is as equally surprising as it was obvious, leaving me to wonder how I did not see it before.

George Orwell did not possess a crystal ball and he was not a psychic or profit. Orwell knew what awaited the future of mankind because those described as big brother through the pages of 1984 were those of the elitist class of his time who shared their twisted vision of the future with him, a nightmare Orwell found so disturbing he withdrew from these individuals and risked his life to warn all those who would read his words. That’s right folks, George Orwell knew the future because he was told by the conspirators what they were planning to do. So ends the mystery, but not the nightmare envisioned in 1984.

Well said, Greg. I awoken to the nightmare, too and followed your suit. I apologies to those I bantered with religious (mind control) from those of the 1984 direct energy weapons NWO.

You’re not alone. A friend in the mid-west (in the know) says our numbers are growing, in horrid leaps and sad bounds.
