How Poor Leadership Threatens Israel

Is Netanyahu’s Iran War Hype a National Security Threat to America?

Bibi – Giving us all the finger

There is no bigger threat to a nation’s national security than horrible leadership. And by that I mean the criminally negligent kind, where trials, imprisonment and yes executions should be a deterrent.

But unfortunately they are not, so we have the boot of the criminal elites on our collective necks.

On trial today will be the Israeli militant leadership duo of Bibi Netanyahu and Ehud Barak, the Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid of the Mid East.

Ah…if only they could be actors in a fictional movie. But alas they are very real in the damage they do and the piles of victims they dream of. Under the Nuremberg precedent of ‘waging an aggressive war’ they would be hanged, and deservingly so, as would have Israel’s other terrorist leaders.

“Oh, you exaggerate here Jim Dean”, you say. I don’t think so. Those who measure their ‘security’ by the numbers of their dead neighbors, are the deadliest of neighbors themselves.

As an American, because my country is somewhat joined to Israel at the hip in this slow motion train wreck, I feel a responsibility to not only to distance myself from it, but expose the disastrous defense and foreign policy justifications for it. They do not protect America, but put her at great risk.

I did not want to write about the NAM convention (Non-Aligned Movement) right away because I knew a lot of others would. As an older journalist I have learned to sometimes live with a story for a few days, observe what other commentators are saying, and not saying, and look for things being missed.

The NAM convention is over and it’s memory will pass, even with most of those who read about it. All of us who write in the geopolitical arena face this huge challenge. How to we help our readers gain a deeper understanding regarding the roots of these world events swirling around us, and also remember it all on demand so the knowledge can actually be put to work?

Uri Avnery

At Veterans Today we admire Uri Avnery not only as a great writer, but also our preeminent source on all things Israeli. At eighty six years old he is our father’s age to those of us in our sixties.

He carries around an extra generation of personal witness experience on the Palestine saga. We know we cannot be good teachers if we cannot continue to be good students. So when Uri talks, we listen.

Uri’s contribution to history began when he was fourteen as an Irgun helper on his bicycle. After fighting in the 1948 War he went on to becoming an early Knesset member and journalist, surviving a few assassination attempts along they way.

As further proof of his courage he crossed over the lines during the first Lebanon invasion to meet with Arafat to attempt an exit of the PLO and end the horrible killing going on. He did this while Sharon had all his best commandos hunting Arafat with orders to capture or kill. The story could easily have ended a different way but many lives were saved through the negotiated settlement.

Uri – Begin- and Sadat

In Uri’s recent March of Folly essay he barbecued Bibi and Barak for their disastrous public handling of the NAM meeting in Iran. His advice to them would have been to say nothing.

But for these two Israeli militants-on-steroids, why do that when they had an opportunity to make a bad situation worse?

These dummies actually called on the UN’s Ban Ki-Moon not to attend the conference despite all past UN General Secretaries having done so. It was a gaff so stupid, even for the likes of Netanyahu and Barak, it staggers the mind.

So my contribution to the NAM conference will be to put them in the court dock today as threats to Israeli security itself. Israel’s own military and intelligence heads basically agree with me, and one has even had his passport taken away for saying so publicly.

Uri describes Bibi’s gross stupidity thusly:

“So he and his assistants proclaimed loudly – very loudly – that the 120 attending countries are supporting Iran’s effort to annihilate Israel, and that Ban and Morsi are promoting a Second Holocaust. Instead of isolating Iran…Netanyahu helped Iran to isolate Israel. “

We have an old satirical saying here in the America to describe such blunders, “We have met the enemy, and they are us!” One might have thought that even the most looney Israeli should be aware that playing the victim card as been so overused as to have now become a boomerang. But not so. How else can we describe this but for what it is, abysmal leadership on a level that is a threat to all of us.

They need a coup in Israel and they need one quickly. They would have the right to do it to defend themselves. After all, both Israel and America have an official policy of preemptive strike, not just for eminent threats but for potential ones.

I am surprised that those officials who dreamed up and pushed for this policy never seemed concerned with it’s being applied to them, personally. I know of more than a few who would love to see NeoCons in purple jump suits on an extended vacation at Guantanamo.

General Martin Dempsey

When you compare the Likudist threat to Israel and the make believe one from Iran, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. These militant Israelis are the people who launched an attack on General Dempsey’s plane at Bagram air base in Afghanistan.

They were sending a message that they are not above killing high ranking Americans to show their displeasure as the lack of appropriate subservience.

This began when they killed the first American ambassador, and followed with Count Bernadotte assassination.

Thank you Bibi. You just gave us the tool we need to launch a clean out counter attack against all of your plants and infiltrators in our military establishment. They are all marked men. No other act could have shamed those more who have been sitting on the fence regarding Israeli espionage penetration over here.

The assassination attempt on Dempsey was a desperate gamble, and we plan to make it a losing one for those responsible. The hugely expensive counter battery fire system at Bagram went down shortly before the rocket attack began. The Taliban does not have a cyber-warfare division., but we know who does.

Dear Bibi, you burned a bridge here and it is not one that leaving office will protect you from. An attack on our Joint Chiefs of Staff has…well, how should I say this…I suspect it has made you a target.

In closing, I promised you all some historical framing and I have not forgotten. To the current failed Israeli leadership and the pitiful condition of our sold out Congress you can add the most dangerous Presidential candidate in history, one with a criminal affiliation wrap sheet that challenges the Bush family.

I dug into some of my rare pre-WWII books by some of the most astute but unknown observers who correctly saw the WWII train wreck coming down that tracks. But their warnings were of no avail. Why? Because as they looked upon the European leadership of the day and saw only a wasteland.

This is similar to what we have today in the West and I fear, I really fear, completely capable of bumbling into a similar scale disaster, and not necessarily by accident. We find the big money, and I mean the really big money, behind a new war.

They must see some benefit to themselves but we do not have the mega criminal intellect to figure out what that could be. Please help us out with suggestions in the comments, thank you.

Francesco Saverio Nitti

Francesco Nitti, former Prime Minister of Italy, was a great man whose memory was buried by those not so great.

I have dug him up for you today as it is a pleasure doing so, to shame our current low life scoundrels by example. These quotes are from The Wreck of Europe…1922

Nitti saw clearly the the disastrous Treaty of Versailles had wrecked the economies of Europe by eliminating Germany and Russia as trading partners, and that another future war over resources was all but certain.

While he labored to avert this by warning all his contemporaries that he could, none would take a public stance by his side. So Nitti labored on his own, fighting the good fight like the rest of us try to do now.

I dedicate this article today to this great statesman, and hope that those leaders who walk in darkness with reconsider your ways, as you will be judged, and all will be known in time.

Here are a few gems I have picked out for you.

“By refusing to sanction the Treaty of Versailles…the American Senate has given proof of the soundest wisdom.”

“Nothing will advance peace more that to agree to give the people a knowledge of the real situation.”

“The sense of common danger, threatening all alike, will prove the most persuasive factor in swerving us from the perilous route which we are now following.”

“The deeply rooted economic crisis, which threatens and prepares new wars, the deeply rooted social crisis, which threatens and prepares new civil conflicts, are merely the expression of a state of mind. Statesmen are the most directly responsible for the continuation of the language of violence.”

And lastly:

“We shall not reestablish our finances…we shall have no assurance of safety, without a true peace; and we shall not establish a true peace without a larger method of justice.”

Nitti’s point here was that the Germany and the Axis countries must be allowed to recover from WWI or conditions would simply deteriorate into another continental war, which is exactly what happened. From what I see from much of our own leadership, we haven’t learned a damn thing. Maybe we need to ask God to save us from ourselves.
