Hundreds evacuated from major shopping mall in Moscow ‘over bomb threat’ – sources

The evacuation took place on Saturday after an anonymous caller warned of a bomb threat, a source in the emergency services told RIA Novosti.

Following the [phone] call [talking] about a planted bomb, around 1,000 people were evacuated from the mall. The building is being examined,” the source said.

Bomb call threats took place in February with thousands of people being evacuated from major Moscow shopping malls, including GUM, a landmark tourist site on Red Square. Anonymous phoned-in bomb threats also targeted six large Auchan supermarkets across the capital. No explosive device has been discovered.

Following the security check, no explosives were discovered and visitors were allowed back into the mall, an RT crew on the scene reported later in the day.
