Jewish House has partnered with JNF to bring together international & local health experts for an upcoming 90-minute webinar discussing the COVID-19 vaccine rollout later this month.

The online event will be free-of-charge and open to community members wanting to learn more about the highly anticipated vaccine.

Audience members will hear from Israeli based infection control experts, Professor Gili Regev- Yochay – Director of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit and Professor Galia Rahav – Head of the Infectious Disease Unit & Laboratories from Sheba medical centre, Israel. Both Professors will share on-the-ground stories and insights from their recent response to COVID-19 and vaccination rollout challenges and successes in Israel. Sheba has become the global vaccination focal point, with the medico health experts championing the importance of vaccination worldwide, and paving the way for other nations to implement rollouts under the guidance of their tried and tested strategies.

Australian National Health Expert Professor Michael Kidd, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Principal Medical Advisor with the Australian Government Department of Health will discuss plans for the upcoming national roll out here in Australia.

Community members will have the opportunity to submit questions upon registration to be included in event moderator and Financial Review health journalist Jill Margo AM’s interview questions to our health expert speakers in the evening. Jill is a multi-award winning journalist and has covered the COVID-19 Pandemic extensively on topics ranging from herd immunity, the Pandemic’s impact on Australian teen’s mental health, and Israel’s world-leading rollout efforts of the vaccine.

Jewish House CEO, Rabbi Mendel Kastel today said “COVID-19 has unsettled life as we know it, globally and locally. Hopefully, the vaccine for this terrible disease will bring much relief to our local families and communities. They have had their worlds turned upside down over the past 12 months – from home-schooling, physical and social isolation, job loss and relationship breakdowns – our team has seen it all.

The webinar will provide community members with the opportunity to have any uncertainties about the vaccine addressed. Our expert panel will explain how the vaccine can help protect you and your loved ones from this disease, what the Australian Governments timeline and plan is for the rollout locally, and its impact on the lives of those who have recently been immunised.

“Knowledge is power. I am grateful to our International and National health expert speakers who have agreed to share their experiences and insights with our audience. I urge everyone to RSVP, submit questions to alleviate any concerns they may have before the rollout, and join us online on the 8th of March at 8 pm for this important discussion.” Rabbi Kastel said.

This event has been supported by JNF, Associate Professor Rachel Kornhaber RN PhD & Professor Michelle Cleary RN PhD from the University of Tasmania, & Alex Tselios from The Big Smoke.
