Iran, Austria to expand rail, aerospace coop.

Sorena Sattari in a Sunday meeting with visiting Minister for Economy, Innovation and Finance of Steiermark, Christian Buchmann, said Iran and Austria can have good scientific and technological cooperation under the newly-presented opportunities following the implementation of the nuclear deal and the lift of anti-Iranian sanctions.

“Capable Iranian companies active in the field of strategic technologies such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, IT, and aerospace can offer excellent grounds for cooperation and a suitable market for investment and exchange of technology,” said Sattari.

Sattari deemed the country’s ICT capacities another excellent field for investment, adding “with over 45 million smart phone users in Iran, companies are presented with a market worth of 60 billion dollars and Iranian firms have played a remarkable part in this field.”

Buchmann, for his part, said his country is fully aware of Iran’s various capacities including its economic market and well-educated human resources, adding Austria’s presence in Iran will be formed on economic and technological basis.

He further expressed the Austrian delegation’s keen interest for cooperation and investment in Iran’s science and technology complexes such as Pardis Technology Park.

“Iran-Austria’s cooperation with AVL Company on the design and construction of engines for passenger cars was one instance of successful scientific and technological cooperation,” he said.

The Minister for Economy, Innovation and Finance of Steiermark, Christian Buchmann, led a delegation of around 50 businessmen from the private sector to Tehran on Feb. 4.
