Iran condemns suicide attack on Afghan cultural center

IRNA – Iran strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a cultural center in Afghanistan that left at least 40 people killed on Thursday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi denounced the attack on a cultural center at the Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) office in Kabul.

The attack that occurred at around 10:30 am local time (6:00 GMT) left scores of people injured.

Qasemi also sympathized with the families of the victims, and extended his condolences to the Afghanistan government, as well as the survivors, particularly the community of Afghan journalists and scholars.

‘Attack on cultural, information and scholars who were equipped with the thought and pen to illuminate and decry the radical and violent thoughts, shows the depth of the hatred and the malice of the planners and executors of terrorism against the freedom of speech, knowledge, cognition, thought and unity of Afghan people,’ he said.

‘Following the recent big blows to their goals, the ill wishers and those bigots who are spreading the hatred find their worthless interests in an instable and chaotic region, and killing the innocent,’ he said.

The key to overcoming the difficulties and the extreme hostility of the ruthless terrorists is that the Afghan government and people remain vigilant, all ethnic groups and parties remain united, and all the countries of the region boost their cooperation, he said.

The Takfiri terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
