Iran keen on economic cooperation with Georgia

Tehran, Feb 15, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi said on Monday that economic cooperation between Iran and Georgia will lead to economic growth serving stability and security of the region.

Sarmadi made the remarks in a meeting with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Georgian Minister of Energy, Kakha Kaladze.
He said that new chapter of relations opened between Iran and Georgia in post-sanctions era.

Sarmadi said that geographical position of the two countries are the reasons to deepen mutual ties.

He said that by feasibility study and drawing up accurate plan in light of the existing capacities, the two countries would develop cooperation on transport sector, transit of goods and energy.

Kaladze expressed pleasure with his first visit to Iran saying that he respects Iranian rich culture.

He added that from today visa for Iranian citizens, who want to visit Georgia, has been cancelled again.

Kaladze expressed his country readiness and firm resolve for all-out expansion of ties.

He hoped that reciprocal visits of officials from both countries would help determine road map for relations.
