SHANA– Iran has potential to increase its oil production to 4.5 million barrels a day (mb/d), the head of the country’s state-run oil firm said on Sunday.
“By rebuilding some installations, we can easily bring [our oil production] to 4.5 mb/d,” said Ali Kardor, CEO of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
He said Iran’s oil production reached 4 mb/d last March, which marks the turn of Iranian calendar year.
Kardor said the bulk of Iran’s oil production enhancement came from the West Karoon oil fields which Iran shares with neighboring Iraq.
