Iran showcases drones, jet trainers at Russia’s MAKS-2017

The MAKS-2017, one of the world’s largest aviation shows established 25 years ago, is underway in Zhukovsky, 40 kilometers (25 miles) south-east of Moscow from 18 July 18 to 23 July.

About 700 Russian and 180 foreign corporations and companies from 36 countries including Iran are expected to participate in the air show.

Iran is taking part in the event with a delegation comprising academic figures, representatives from knowledge-based companies, and officials from Iranian Aviation Technology Development HQ.

At Iran’s stand, ‘Karrar’, ‘Mohajer’, ‘Iranian Scan Eagle’ and ‘Hamaseh’ drones were put on display. Iran also displayed various types of ammunition and aviation weapons manufactured by the country’s defense industry, including ‘Sadid’ and ‘Ghased’ smart, guided bombs, ‘Dehlavieh’ anti-armor missile, and ‘Azarakhsh’ explosive fuses.

‘Saba-248’ and ‘Sorena’ helicopters were also put on display at Iran’s stand.

Another notable Iranian-manufactured military equipment displayed at the Russian air show was a prototype of ‘Kowsar’ advanced jet trainer, the country’s first homegrown of its kind. The jet, apart from application in pilot training courses, can be used for aerial support missions in short distances, and can also carry various weapons.
