Iran slams US interference in region

The region will witness peace and stability only if the United States is forced to leave it, said Deputy Chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri on Monday.

The Iranian commander underlined the awareness of the regional people as a key factor to expel the US from the region.

In reference to Egypt developments, Jazayeri said that the US and Israel have adopted different approaches to maintain their presence in the North African country. He expressed hope that the Egyptians will not allow the enemies of their revolution to achieve their objectives.

He pointed to the trend of the Islamic awakening in the Middle East and said countries such as the United States and Britain, which have been pursuing their illegal interests in the region for years, can not hinder the region’s progress.

The tide of the Islamic Awakening began in Tunisia in December 2010, with President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali being forced to step down on January 14, 2011. It soon led to similar fate for the US-backed ruler of the Egyptian regime, Hosni Mubarak.
