Iran students voice support for Gazans

Iranian students have staged a fresh protest rally in Tehran slamming Israel’s fatal raids on Gaza, calling on the Muslim states to stand united in defending the war-stricken Palestinians.

A large group of Iranian students gathered outside Palestine’s embassy in the capital Tehran on Friday morning and shouted anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian slogans.

The demonstrators stressed the need for stronger unity among the Muslim countries in defending the oppressed Palestinian people in the face of Israeli atrocities.

The participants also criticized the international community for remaining tight-lipped against Tel Aviv’s crimes as the regime continues to shed the blood of innocent civilians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

On August 4, Iranian students held similar demonstrations in front of the Egyptian interests section as well as the Jordanian embassy in Tehran. During the event, the protesters called for the reopening of the Egyptian-controlled Rafah border crossing so that relief aid could be delivered to Gazans.

About 1,900 Palestinians, including more than 400 children, have been killed and over 9,500 others wounded since the Israeli military first launched its brutal military aggression against Gaza on July 8.

Latest reports say indirect ceasefire negotiations between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel in Egypt have reached a deadlock.

This is while a three-day ceasefire between Hamas and Tel Aviv, which had taken effect on Tuesday morning, expired at 8:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) on Friday.
