Iranian wrestlers snatch 5 medals in XXII Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial

Press TV – Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have exhibited remarkable grappling skills at the XXII Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial, and earned five medals, two of which are gold ones, during the international sports event.

Iranian freestyler Kamran Qasempour snatched a gold medal after he overpowered Richard Perry from the United States 4-1 in the final bout of the 86-kilogram weight category at the Palace of Sports in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev.

Mohammad Motaqinia earned a bronze in the 79-kilogram weight section as well.

Additionally, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Pejman Poshtam triumphed over a representative from Poland in the title challenge of the 77-kilogram weight class, and picked up the gold medal.

Ramin Bastani and Farshad Belfekkeh could pocket two bronzes in the 55-kilogram and 72-kilogram classes respectively.

The XXII Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial started on February 23, and finished on February 25, 2018.

It attracted dozens of male and female freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from various countries, namely Algeria, Azerbaijan, Canada, Egypt, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Turkey and the United States.
