Israel forces wound Palestinian in Gaza

Israeli soldiers have shot and wounded a Palestinian near the border fence inside the Gaza Strip.

Israeli media say the regime’s forces shot the Palestinian “in the leg on Friday after he attempted to climb the border fence with Gaza.”

The incident took place a day after Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian young men collecting stones near the town of Beit Hanoun in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Three Palestinians were wounded, two in the leg and one in the shoulder. The incident took place in the so-called buffer zone, established by the Tel Aviv regime along the border with Gaza in 2008 for alleged security reasons.

The zone officially extends 300 meters into the Gaza territory, but reports indicate that the Israeli regime is in effect forcing a much larger no-go zone.

Israeli troops target Palestinian civilians, including children wandering close to the border fence, as well as farmers. The troops also hit Palestinian scrap metal collectors trying to make ends meet.

The Gaza Strip has long been suffering under an all-out land, aerial, and naval blockade imposed by the Israeli regime.

The siege has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the impoverished enclave, turning the territory into the world’s largest open-air prison.

Israel denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages and adequate healthcare and education.
