Israeli gift to Palestinian women on Woman’s Day

By Mahmoud el-Yousseph

The Israeli Zionist state marked International Woman’s Day by murdering one Palestinian woman and kidnapping another one.

Woman’s Day in the Israeli occupied West Bank began with the execution of Fadwa abu-Teir, a mother of five. She was on her way to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. She was 50 years old and a mother of five children; three boys and two girls.

Spokesman for the only democracy claimed to have ordered her to stop and she did not comply. Later, the spokesman alleged she was attempting to stab a heavily armed soldier.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses at the scene said, she did not hear the soldier’s order, she was unarmed, was shot without warning and was left to bleed to death.

Fadwa was executed in cold blood by the Israeli occupation forces.

The notion that the soldiers would let her bleed for 45 minutes after shooting in the eye and stomach without allowing Palestinian medics or doctors come to her aid is mind boggling and inhumane.

Later on that day, the Israeli occupation army raided the home of Manal al-Tamimi, a mother of six and nonviolent resistance activist, and kidnapped her for her activity against the Separation Wall, supporting BDS (boycott, divestment and sanction) and for calling the release of human rights activist and attorney Shireen al-Issawi, who was sentenced to four years in prison for her human rights work.

As Manal’s husband, Bilal al-Tamim, put it succinctly, “this is the Israeli gift to Palestinian women on Woman’s Day.”

Manal’s fault was her attempt, alongside sister and mother, to rescue her nephew the 12-year- old Mohamed al-Tamimi from being kidnapped by a cruel Israeli occupation soldier. The boy’s hand was broken and he was in cast during the kidnapping attempt.

Ironically, both of those crimes come on the International Woman Day, without any western outrage or condemnation. These crimes run contrary to US laws which bans aid to countries engaged in blatant human rights violations. Thus, without the US aid and silence, such crimes would not take place on a daily basis.  Sadly, this is the faith of Palestinian women under the Israeli military rule.

Since last October, Israel has killed more than 200 Palestinians as part of the Israeli crackdown on anti-occupation protest and unrest in the occupied West Bank. Defence for Children International confirmed that the Israeli occupation has killed at least 49 Palestinian children including 17 girls since October 2015.

As long as the Israeli occupation is not being held accountable, its army will continue to murder Palestinian women and children with immunity.

The Israeli occupation should be condemned for not showing respect for human rights and rules of the civilised nations; otherwise, we will continue to hear tragic stories such as of Fadwa and Manal.

Four famous Jewish women have one message Netanyahu

    By Mahmoud El-Yousseph
    March 13, 2018

Four famous Jewish women have one message to PM Netanyahu who vilified Palestinians in his campaign: Don’t stigmatize and demonize the Arab minority population.

    The women are:
1- Carole Nuriel, director of the ADL’s Israel office.
2- Rotom Sela, TV host, model, and actress.
3- Gal Gadot, an actress and “Wonder Woman” star.
4- Natalie Portman, film actress, producer, writer, and director.

All four women slammed PM Netanyahu and told him one way or the other that stereotyping and stigmatizing Israeli Arabs during his election campaign is unacceptable and immoral. The Arab population is a term Israelis prefer to use when talking about the Palestinians living inside the pre-1948 borders and who makes up 21 percent of the Israeli population.

Netanyahu responded by saying, “There is no problem with Israel’s Arab citizens. They have equal rights.” Never mind that there are 50 laws in Israel that discriminate against Palestinians. Using social media, the women also lectured Netanyahu about who ‘Israel belongs to.’

Those brave women represent the conscience of the silent Israeli Jewish majority. They do give others hope that a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israeli is in the only way to go. In addition, who can forget Natalie Portman last year who refused to accept the “Jewish Nobel” Price? The American superstar with dual Israeli and American citizenship did not feel comfortable being in the same room with Netanyahu after the Israeli army snipers killed and injured thousands of peaceful Palestinian protesters. By having the courage to hold Netanyahu accountable, those brave women showed the Crime Minister’s hands being stained with blood, his lips have spoken falsely, and his tongue muttered wicked things.
