JIT published new photo of Buk 332 linked to downing Malaysian MH17, calls for witnesses

nsnbc : The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), investigating the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH14 in eastern Ukraine in 2014, reports that it recently has received a new photograph of the BUK-Telar surface to air missile launcher that allegedly has brought down the Malaysian airliner on its flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. The JIT is urging persons who have any knowledge about the photo to come forward.

buk_telar_op_transport_960x540_The Netherlands_MH17_JIT_Oct 19, 2017_The JIT notes that the picture was probably taken on July 17, 2014, in the town of Makeevka in Ukraine. It its statement, the JIT says that the JIT presumes that the picture contains the BUK-Telar which is responsible for downing flight MH17.

The JIT stressed that it requests anyone who has any kind of information about the picture, the vehicles on it and the location where the picture was taken to contact the JIT. “We will handle your information with ultimate care. JIT investigators are available to help you in several languages including Russian and Ukrainian”, read the JIT statement.

Witnesses can contact the JIT to provide information or evidence. “For those concerned about safety, refer to Witness Safety & Protection“, stated the JIT.

The JIT also reiterated that the criminal investigation is aimed at identifying the suspects and is conducted by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The JIT also notes that one can visit the website of the Netherlands Public Prosecutor’s Office for the latest information. One can also find the JIT on Vkontakte.

The image released by the JIT shows the right side of the BUK-Telar shown in the image,, loaded on the back of a white Volvo truck that may – according to some statements – have hauled it through eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.

The photo also depicts a blue Volkswagen minivan that allegedly escorted the BUK through eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. Investigative journalists at Bellingkat have previously stated that they have identified the anti-aircraft missile as “Buk 3×2,” belonging to Russia’s Kursk-based 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

It is critical with regard to the evidentiary, probative value of the image – or the lack thereof – that the JIT can positively geolocate the position where the anti-aircraft launcher depicted in the photo was located at the moment that the photo was taken and to determine the exact time and date at which the photo was taken. Hence the call for witnesses.

This new image is the ninth photograph or video showing Russian Buk 332 in eastern Ukraine, along with a satellite image taken on 11:08am on the day of the tragedy , purportedly showing the missile launcher in Makiivka, Ukraine.

The JIT suspects this is the exact Buk launcher that shot down MH17 flight and has asked citizens to assist the investigation by providing details regarding the image and any circumstances related. The JIT had previously issued a report stating that retired Russian Major General Sergei Dubinsky (“Khmuryi”) carried out the transportation of Buk 332, from which the MH17 flight was allegedly shot down.
