Large number of hunger strikers admitted to hospitals

A large number of Palestinian hunger strikers inside Israeli jails were admitted to hospitals on day 36 of their strike amidst Israeli negligence to their rights.

The media committee for the Dignity Strike reiterated in a statement issued on Monday morning that the situation of the hunger strikers is very dangerous.

“Israeli Prisons Services (IPS) practices dirty tactics with the hunger strikers,” the statement said, noting that they put tens of the hunger strikers in solitary confinement.

“Heath condition of many of the prisoners deteriorated and; however, many of them were admitted to hospitals, a large number of them still in need for urgent medical interference,” the statement stressed.

According to the statement, the IPS set up field clinics in the different prisons prior to the start of the hunger strike, but said that these clinics lack the basic medical services.

“Inside these clinics, Israeli doctors blackmail the hunger strikers as they offer them delicious food when they are there for an urgent treatment,” the statement said.

As the situation of the hunger strike is deteriorating, the Palestinian Prisoners Club called for the international community to urgently interfere to save the lives of the hunger strikers and to put pressure on Israel to fulfil their basic needs.
