Leader’s Top Aide: Europeans express opposition to US disloyalty to N. deal

FNA- Iranian Supreme Leader’s top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati blasted Washington for its non-commitment to its undertakings under the 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran, and said European states are expressing outright opposition to the US policies.

Velayati made the remarks after holding talks with Chairman of the Foreign Relations Commission of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands Raymond Knops and his accompanying delegation in Tehran on Sunday.

“During the talks, they (the Dutch MPs) said that the policies of Europe, specially the Netherlands, are different from the US and they don’t accept the Americans’ disloyalty at all,” Velayati told reporters.

Noting that the Dutch are committed to the contracts signed with Tehran and are trying to increase investment in Iran, he said, “As I heard during the negotiations, they are willing to expand economic relations with Iran and fully support the nuclear deal.”

In relevant remarks in May, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called for broadening of mutual cooperation with Iran in different areas.

“Iran’s significant role in regional developments is evident and we want to deepen Amsterdam-Tehran relations,” Rutte said, addressing a ceremony in Amsterdam.

The Dutch prime minister reiterated that the two countries have the needed potentials to further expand their mutual cooperation.

Also, in early February, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi underscored his country’s enthusiasm for the further promotion of relations with the Netherlands.

Takht Ravanchi made the remarks in a meeting with members of foreign relations committee of the Netherlands’ parliament in the Hague.

He welcomed exchange of visits between parliamentary delegations of the two countries, calling it a move which will help consolidate and expand bilateral ties.

Hailing the level of Tehran-Amsterdam current relations, Takht Ravanchi said it can be promoted in different fields.
