Man asks Officer to, “Ask Yourself If You’re Helping or Hurting” During Traffic Stop

Traffic tickets are nothing more than revenue generation for the state and extortion for you and I.

The loyal trolls here can spare me the, “traffic laws keep people safe” crap because it’s just that, CRAP! No matter how many warnings given, tickets are written or driving ‘privileges’ taken away there will ALWAYS be a risk to driving a motor vehicle. Therefore, there will ALWAYS be accidents and traffic cops – and the tickets issued at them – do NOTHING to change that.

The video above highlights that perfectly since according to Zac, who submitted the video via the CopBlock.org “Submission Tab“, he:

ran a stop sign in a parking lot on a University Campus at 10:30 at night. It’s Summer and nobody was around… except Officer Sanchez of the CSULB PD.

For those unaware, college students aren’t in school during the summer. Sure there are some students (people) around but as Zac noted, it was 10:30 pm in a empty parking lot. The only two people around were him and Sanchez.

Thanks to heavy indoctrination (via public schools, the police academy and then via the ‘thin blue line’ mentality) Sanchez doesn’t see himself as the road priate he is stating that, “there’s a lot of people out here and by you running that stop sign you could have really hurt somebody [but didn’t so we have to take money from you instead].”

Was Sanchez tripping on drugs? Is he seeing people? Zac doesn’t seem like he was in a state where he’d mow down people walking through a crosswalk. In fact, he seems smart enough to know when to stop and go all on his own, without government laws, like most of us do.

Yet, at 10:30 pm on a summer night, when the campus is nearly a ghost town, Sanchez hide in the shadows and pounced on Zac like he was prey. While Sanchez would like to believe that someone COULD have been hurt, the fact is nobody was and therefore there’s nothing for Zac to pay for or make right. He didn’t harm anyone!

If Sanchez wasn’t wearing a police uniform and badge doing what he did would be called robbery, not a traffic stop. Yet, a robbery and a traffic stop are basically identical events. This is police robbery under color of law with a false pretence of ‘keeping you or others safe” as the justification for it.

Interactions like this, over victimless crimes where nobody has been injured, is why many are tired of the police Yes the senseless killings hurt and – sadly – open more eyes to the issues we face. Yet, make no mistake about it, it’s the revenue generation, the attack on consensual interactions and an ever growing Government (which passes on average, 50,000 laws per year) that people are upset with the most. The endless traffic violations that almost always end with the ‘citizen’ taking a several hundred dollar fine from a police officer whose salary they also pay (in part) for.

Maybe I’m not being clear here, so I’ll use Sheldon Richman‘s words:

“As long as the police are charged with detecting and stopping consensual transactions (concerning, for example, drugs, guns, gambling, sex, untaxed cigarettes and CDs), tension and violence will continue. Abolishing victimless-crime laws won’t end institutional racism, but many opportunities for it will be eliminated. The key feature of a victimless-“crime” transaction is that unlike, say, battery, it has no complaining participant — the transaction is consensual. Because of this, police engage in surveillance, entrapment, cultivation of informants, and other methods that breed distrust between the people and the system. This gives rise to a view of the police as an occupying army, especially in poor minority neighborhoods, where for a variety of reasons, the black market presents attractive alternatives to poverty.”

And that – police stopping consensual transactions – is the biggest problem with policing today. The solution is competition but the government cannot allow that because then they won’t have anyone to make us follow their rules then.
