The Australian share market has ended the week at a six-week high after briefly passing through the 5,000-point barrier.
The All Ordinaries index climbed 0.2 per cent to 4,957, while the ASX 200 increased by the same margin 4,973.
Shares in all four of the major banks have fallen.
Westpac closed down 1.3 per cent, NAB lost 0.1 per cent, the Commonwealth sank 0.6 per cent and ANZ declined by almost 1 per cent.
Resources stocks had a better day, with BHP Billion adding 1.4 per cent and Rio Tinto climbing 0.8 per cent.
After close of business, the Australian dollar was worth 91.64 US cents.
