Meghan Markle Endorses Black Lives Matter: ‘They’re Beautiful’

Meghan Markle endorses Black Lives Matter

Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle has heaped praise on the Black Lives Matter organization, calling them “beautiful” and “exciting” in a recent interview.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were recently interviewed on camera by the London’s Evening Standard. In the video, Prince Harry complained that his upbringing in England made him “ignorant” about how it felt to be non-white in a world “created by white people for white people.”

“I’ve had an awakening as such of my own,” he told the UK paper as he sat beside his approving wife.

“I wasn’t aware of so many of the issues and so many of the problems within the UK, but also globally as well,” he gushed.

“I thought I did — but I didn’t,” he insisted.

Nypost.com reports: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke to the Standard to mark the beginning of Black History Month in the UK — and to call for an end to “structural racism.”

The 39-year-old duchess also spoke of her admiration for the Black Lives Matter movement, especially after the couple met one of its founders, Alicia Garza.

Markle conceded that the group “has been inflammatory” and “disruptive,” but insisted it came from a pure place of “recognizing equality.”

“The impetus is really about reminding people of your worth,” she said of BLM.

“When there is just peaceful protest and when there is the intention of just wanting community and just wanting the recognition of equality, then that is a beautiful thing,” she went on.

“While it has been challenging for a lot of people — certainly having to make this reckoning of historical significance that has gotten people to the place that they are — that is uncomfortable for people. And we recognize that. It is uncomfortable for us.

“When we just focus on the uplift and positivity of that while still acknowledging the path, that’s when we reshape things. And that shouldn’t be inflammatory at all. That should be really exciting,” Markle said.

Harry praised his wife’s comments as “so perfectly said.”

The Duke also said he called the leader of a dance troupe that triggered a deluge of complaints after they performed a routine on the UK version of “America’s Got Talent” that reflected George Floyd’s knee-on-the-neck death.

“I am sure even me talking about it will be controversial,” Harry admitted, calling it “the most amazing” performance and the flood of complaints proof of “how much this conversation needs to continue.”

The couple was interrupted at one point by the duchess’ dog, and the pair also gushed about toddler son Archie — who Markle described as “so good.”

“We are very lucky with our little one. He is just so busy, he is all over the place. He keeps us on our toes. We are just so lucky,” she said.

They also discussed being kept in lockdown during the pandemic — suggesting it would be no different even if they’d not fled the UK after Megxit.

“Everything has been through video, everything has been in a room, somewhere,” Harry said. “So it doesn’t matter where in the world we have been, we have stayed in touch with and supported the organizations as much as humanly possible.”

Markle added, “Like all of you, we are doing the best that we can and hoping that our passion and our commitment is still felt because it certainly hasn’t wavered.”
