This week at the UN – if the U.S. push to disable the process does not succeed – a vote will be taken on Palestinian statehood. The U.S. has already stated that it will veto any vote that supports Palestinian statehood. So why take the vote if that is the end result?

A recent global poll indicated that by a two to one margin, the people of the world, of all of earth, all of humanity, support the idea of a Palestinian state. That is probably about the same as the General Assembly vote will be as the U.S. and its sycophantic allies will argue that the best way to proceed is through negotiations. The Euro community and the NATO community will probably vote against a Palestinian state, which would be no surprise as they have already demonstrated their moral bankruptcy in the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and most recently in Libya. Canada, under the leadership of Stephen Harper’s conservatives, will support the U.S. unequivocally – and perhaps try to outdo the U.S. in its support for the negative vote side. Still there should be enough support for the vote to proceed to the Security Council to garner the U.S. veto.

As for negotiations they have only proven to be a dead end for Palestine, quite literally. As the Israelis and the U.S. have “negotiated” over the last forty years, the Palestinian territory has been reduced to a series of bantustans or cantonments in which the Palestinians are essentially in an open air prison, ruled – not governed – by the Israeli Defence Forces imposition of martial law. This year’s release of the Palestinian papers demonstrated that the Palestinians are more than willing ‘partners for peace’ while the Israelis are the ones not looking for a negotiated settlement. Negotiations have simply been the cover used by Israeli, with the full support of the U.S., to continue the slow process of annexation and expropriation of Palestinian land and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

When the vote to support Palestinian statehood is passed by the General Assembly, as popular support would indicate it should be, then negotiations of a different nature could proceed. A positive vote would indicate that a different approach is necessary. Before the vote, the various scenarios of Palestine as two states, a unitary state, a bi-national state, or a federal state have all been postulated. To try and negotiate any of this before the vote is not the real point of the vote. The real point of the vote is to expose U.S. and European intransigence towards the Palestinian issue, not that they have not been out in the open about it, but that they will have to categorically state that they support the imposition of martial law on an occupied peoples indefinitely.

  • Moral Bankruptcy: will U.S. veto Palestine?

In light of past and current U.S. military actions around the world, and the economic problems that accompany the militarization (and financialization) of the U.S. economy, that should not be a surprise. The mainstream media generally ignores the Palestinian situation, and when it does acknowledge the conflict, it does so generally from the point of view of the Israelis as the besieged victims. To have the a Palestinian state recognized, and then to have the U.S. veto the result, may not change the media discourse. It may even make it more vitriolic as the U.S. becomes even more aware that it is continuing to lose support from the people of the world.

But it will demonstrate to Israel, the U.S., and other governments that truly deny the existence of a Palestinian people, a Palestinian state, that the world in general does not support their position. While current global events may have pushed the Palestinian question into a seemingly smaller event in the lenses of the media, its importance should not be lost on the government of the U.S. The Arab spring, a beginning for change in the Arab world, shows that terrorism, al-Queda, and Islamic fanaticism are not significant factors in the tensions in the region. The significant factor in terror, in Islamic fanaticism, is the ongoing U.S. unequivocal support of despots and militarists on both sides of the Israeli-Arab broader conflict and their own military intrusions into the region.

The main goal of the U.S. in the region is not democracy, is not freedom, has nothing to do with constitutional government (which Israel does not have). It is about power over and control of resources and people for their own imperial wealth enhancement. A no vote by the U.S. will only help signal to the people of the region, and to the rest of the world, that the U.S. will continue its current foreign policy of domination through military force, and the recognition of governments based not on their democratic attributes but on their support for U.S. imperial imperatives.

The U.S. is trying to avoid the vote altogether. Hopefully the majority of the countries of the world will call for the vote and vote yes for Palestinian statehood. Regardless of arguments of whether this is the best thing for Palestinians to be doing at this point in their struggle, the vote will allow the U.S. to express itself openly in support of its continuing Middle East policy and signal to the rest of the world that their moral bankruptcy continues.

  1. Why would the U.S.
(give me your tired huddled masses, land of the… home of the… THE melting pot)
give the finger to Palestine’s right to humanity?
    …because of who’s in charge…
    ALERT TO ALL CITIZENS:

Bullshit. The land is Israel’s. Get over it. Palestinians are soon going to pay for all the murders they’ve committed against Israel. Everyone seems to forget who is the suicide bomber and who is the victim.

Suicide bombers are the effect, not the cause of the problem. You’ve got it backwards. What happened first, Israeli aggression or suicide bombers? Look it up and get back to us.

Israeli aggression? That’s an oxymoron! They’ve been on the DEFENSIVE since coming into their land.

    Tom,

If it is their homeland, then why did they immigrate there? That is an oxymoron! The Bible is quite clear they are no longer God’s people and were cut off and the Gentiles grafted in. So if you are a Christian, then you are God’s people, not some Christ hating zionist piece of rat filth. At least if you’re not going to read the Bible then find someone better educated then yourself to explain it to you. There’s even books on tape so you can simply listen.

Philippe — God has been trying since Old Testament times to bring them home, but their sin and backsliding caused Him to stop and punish them each and every time. Finally, in 1948, and as a result of God’s most terrible punishment to day (the Holocaust), He caused Britain to help pave the way for their return, hence immigration.

Do you know a Christ-hating, zionist? Zionists are the rich, global turds who are infiltrating all the governments of the world. The ORTHODOX Jews crucified Christ, in error. And they’ll be fooled again when the Anti-Christ arrives on the world scene to end WWIII. I DO read the Bible and that’s how come I know Israel is home now. Obadiah 15-18 tells of the fate of the Palestinians, in case you are interested.

  2. Yes… the idea of this article that ‘America’ has anything to do with this veto.. at a “United Nations,” set up by the same Banking, Illuminists, tribally controlled entity is… rather silly.

The Banking Cartel is the core issue facing America’s existence. And admitting that that cartel is at its core controlled by the Jewish tribe… to openly state that fact is needed by both Jew and “Gentile.”

Yes non Jews are involved… but the centralization of power within that tribal group… has led for both Jews and Gentiles to world wars… 200 plus million in deaths from Communism (really Zionism in a world political context and purpose) and control of our children’s lives and minds… and generation after generation of attenuation of creative effort by the human race… literally all and more planned.

This has gone beyond a Jewish or “Gentile,” matter… it is a matter of Truth and of slavery or freedom for all humans. Without Jewish help in dismantling this power… what lies ahead in confrontation is so dark and the process to get back to the Light so long… one must turn the head in horror … but we can not turn our heads from Truth.

NO they do not. But then again, Israel doesn’t need help when the Lord is on their side. That is why they’ve won every war they’ve had, even when outnumbered 6 to 1 or even 12 to 1. God said they would never again be defeated militarily, and they won’t. The violence gets worse as there is more to come.

OWNED – Not sides you ZIONIST TROLL

All america does by voting the way its Zionist Masters demands is SHARE THE GUILT.

If america chooses to VETO it shares the responsibility for the GAZA and WEST BANK CONCENTRATION CAMPS.

Israhell WAR CRIMINALS use WHITE PHOSPHOROUS on Civilians in their CONCENTRATION CAMPS.

Any rabbi would DEMAND TRIALS for this WAR CRIME.

    You are no rabbi.

Glen — If by concentration camps you mean the places where Palestinians live, then call it whatever you like. As for white phosphorus, who cares the method? If a burglar breaks into my home, I’m killing him – rope, gun, white phosphorus, whatever.

Gaza and the West Bank are the places where the enemy wishes to (and DOES) launch attacks from. Naturally, since Israel is very skinny in places, this just can’t be allowed. You can’t defend a country if, where it’s only 12 miles in width, you have the murderes LIVING.

Funny how people who live in other country’s can take such a hated interest in this situation.

  4. The greatest rabbi of our times–the Lubavitcher Rebbe–called on Israeli leaders to annex all the land acquired in the ’67 war. In international law, law acquired in a defensive war is your land.

What’s more, the UN can’t take away what God gave to the Jews. Likewise no Israeli government can give up the land. That’s because the land doesn’t belong to the government but rather to the eternity of the Jewish people.

As far as war crimes go, Arab lands are underpopulated. That is the main cause for their third world status. what was the population of Philadelphia in 1880? 1,000,000. How many Arabs live in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza then? 18,000. There were 4000 Jews in Jerusalem, and 3,000 Arabs.

Why does life suck for the Arabs of Gaza? Because God doesn’t want them there. You know what? They would rather be somewhere else. Morons don’t get it. Send them back where they came from.

The land belongs to God. It always has and always will. God pruned the vine of the Jewish filth and grafted in Gentiles. You rejected Him and He has had to reject you until you repent.

Okay, yet you sometimes post anti-Jew and anti-Israel……

  5. While Umericans are still only worried HOW the Towers fell on 9/11
and the reasons that Arabs hate Umericans for some reason just seems to elude them.

Of course Israel (I mean Umerica) will Veto Palestine. The whole Idea of the Veto Vote is to Block everything that goes against Israel, no matter how right or wrong the request is.
The whole process of the UN is flawed and corrupt, because the more money you put in the more righter you are, money talks. It has nothing to do with right or wrong just who’s got the most money has the most Influence.

  6. This one’s for Philippe and Tom (regardless as to how the board may display it).

You’ll need to quote that bit about the christians being the replacement people as it’s pretty hard for an eternal, everlasting Covenant to just be swept away (unless you are implying that it was made for lulz with no intent to fulfill on the deal). Even if Jesus is a messiah to the gentiles (without him, the rest of the world wouldn’t have access to the Old Testament, after all), additional covenants do NOT abbrogate earlier ones!

The Sadducees may well have called for Jesus’ execution but they are all dead now, as predicted in Daniel 9:26 (I read the bible too and have a more accurate copy: And after 62 weeks shall the annointed [priest/king/general leader term] be cut off and nothing [left] to him) so who cares?

Only descendents of Pharisees exist today.

As to the term ‘orthodox’; at the time that would have been ALL the Jews, as reform, conservative and reconstructionist didn’t exist until the last couple of hundred years or so.
