During a Justice and Development Party meeting in Rabat, Benkirane told members: “I raised the issue of Khalfan’s comments to His Majesty King Mohammed VI so he can follow up the issue with Emirati officials.”

On Twitter on Saturday, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and General Security Dhahi Khalfan said that Morocco’s Muslim Brotherhood, which heads the government, would collapse within a year or more.

Benkirane said: “The future is in God’s hands and this person is delusional and a daydreamer.”

“The UAE is a friendly country and His Majesty the King has brotherly relations with Emirati princes,” he said, adding that “it is unacceptable that this person, who was welcomed in Morocco, attacks us.”
