The exact location of the new explosion is not yet known, but witnesses told Reuters they heard the sound of sirens across the city.

Twitter users have described the blast as “big” and “loud.”

The explosion reportedly took place in the affluent Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood in northern Kabul, near the compound of Afghan warlord Abdul Rashid Dostum, LPD Afghanistan said on Twitter.

A police source told BBC journalist Kawoon Khamoosh that the blast hit the Shirpor district and was caused by an improvised explosive device.

Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary cited a police officer who said that “a sound bomb was placed close to a Shisha shop in Shirpor to create panic. Two people injured with broken glass.”
