Eric Ciotti, the campaign manager of Mr Fillon, favourite in the polls, echoed
the sentiments and said he hopes “as soon as possible, a rally will
take place around M. Fillon”.
Others candidates expected to declare their candidacy include Bruno Le Maire,
former Agriculture Minister, or Xavier Bertrand, former minister of Labour.
Candidates have until September 15 to declare their intention to stand.
