Queensland’s new go-it-alone education reforms will be funded but the State Government can’t yet say where the money will come from.
The reforms will cost about $535 million over four years from 2015 and will offer high-performing teachers bonuses and put principals on performance-based contracts.
Treasurer,Tim Nicholls, says funding for the reforms will be unveiled in that year’s budget.
‘We will be making details of where the funds for the program will be coming from,’ he told reporters.
‘We’ll be putting that money into the budget.’
The Treasurer said no existing programs would be cut to fund the new reforms.
