Ohio gas prices increase as crude oil prices rise

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio drivers can expect to pay a little bit more at the pump this week.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.45 in Monday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. That’s up 9 cents from a week ago.

A year ago, the average was $3.70.

Nationally, the average price for regular gas is about $3.47, about 7 cents higher than last week.

Analysts say the higher prices are mostly due to rising crude oil prices, spurred upward by better-than-expected global economic concerns and simmering tensions in the Middle East.

U.S. oil supplies swelled in June to 22-year highs but have declined since then.
